Does this house look familiar? Here is how it looks now!
Here is how the house looked in 1967 -- there is more original detail visible:
The Historic West Side is FULL of history and wonderful architecture including my favorite house style - the bungalow. This blog will highlight the gorgeous bungalows that can be found in the West Side Historic neighborhood. I would also like to report on interesting house styles throughout Springfield and the history they represent. If you would like me to feature some house or interesting historic place that you've found, send me an email and we'll arrange it! Please check our older posts too!

Thanks for another interesting post. I don't often think of housed that large being available through a catalog.
My family lives in the original Aladdin Villa in Bay City, MI. The most significant difference between this Springfield, IL house and ours is the windows. Our home has a total of six (five in the sunroom alone) large glass arches as seen in the early catalog rendering. We also have French style windows under the glass arches, rather than double-hung squares.
I've seen photos of our home from the 1960's and like this Springfield Villa it had large trellises on the front of the house. I suspect those may have been an option available for order.
My boyfriend lives there now!! It's a beautiful house. And the basement scares me!! but it's beautiful
