- I moved to Springfield from Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1985. The first flat I rented was in the Historic West Side Neighborhood. I fell in love with the history and the convenience of the neighborhood. We are minutes away from both hospitals and downtown. In 1987 I purchased my first home in the Historic West Side that had lots of charm and had been built in 1931. I bought it from the original owner. Currently my husband and I live in a "double bungalow." My husband who had only lived in new construction prior to our marriage has the same fervor of enthusiasm for our almost 100 year old home as I do. Welcome to the Historic West Side Neighborhood!
